Salisbury FBLA Chapter attends State Competition


Salisbury, MO, April 18, 2019– 22 members of the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda Chapter from Salisbury High School recently traveled to Springfield, MO for the Missouri Future Business Leaders of America – Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference.  This four-day conference, beginning Saturday, April 12, featured dynamic workshops, innovative keynotes, and professional networking opportunities with Fortune 500 companies for middle school through college students.

Keynote presentations included Laurie Gunderson of Park University and St. Louis speaker Joe Fingerhut.  New activities this year included The Hub, an updated central conference activity location, a Springfield Cardinals game, and private tours of MSU sponsored by the College of Business.

Over 5,000 students and advisers came together for the event, with over 150 business education related contests running during the event; contest topics range from accounting to website design, marketing to mobile application development.  2019 marked the largest SLC in Missouri history.

Overall, Salisbury High School brought home many Top 10 awards, including:

Electronic Career Portfolio 1st Place – Sydney Stundebeck

Mobile App Development 1st Place – Stran Henry, Anna White, Kaylyn Hinkle

Publication Design 2nd Place – Megan Edwards, Abigail Gebhardt

Graphic Design 3rd Place – Brooke Stefankiewicz, Bryn Wooldridge, Emmett Gutz

Sales Presentation 3rd Place – Ethan Gutz

Journalism 3rd Place – M’Kenzie Sears

Job Interview 4th Place – Sydney Stundebeck

Public Service Announcement 6th Place – Emmalee Wyatt

E-Business 7th Place – Alyssa Smedley, Morghyn Munden, Breanne Haines

 

11 of the chapter members will be moving on to compete in the National FBLA Conference in San Antonio, Texas on June 28-July 2. Those members are: Sydney Stundebeck, Stran Henry, Anna White, Kaylyn Hinkle, Megan Edwards, Abigail Gebhardt, Brooke Stefankiewicz, Bryn Wooldridge, Emmett Gutz, Ethan Gutz, and M’Kenzie Sears.

Missouri FBLA-PBL, a chartered member of National FBLA-PBL, is a registered 501(c)3.  Their mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs.  Missouri FBLA-PBL membership exceeds 15,500, making it the second largest state chapter of the organization in the nation and the second largest CTSO in Missouri.
