Six SHS students traveled to Fayette on November 4 to compete in Central Methodist University’s annual Momberg High School Math and Science Competition. The competition was composed of a knowledge and performance event. The performance event challenged each team to create a slow falling paper helicopter that was less than 20 cm in length and width. CMU awarded renewable scholarships for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Salisbury’s teams placed 8th and 9th out of 22 teams.
Following the competition, students were provided lunch and got to tour Stedman Hall. While touring Stedman Hall, students got to observe an organic chemistry experiment about how to make Icy Hot from aspirin. Students also toured the Marine Biology lab where they could view different birds, snakes, and reptiles. Finally, students experienced the virtual anatomy table, which allowed them to study a virtual cadaver in an interactive way.
