Chariton Valley Communications Selects Two Students for Washington D.C. Trip

MACON, MO—March 8, 2018—Congratulations to Megan Edwards, daughter of Steve and Deb Edwards of Salisbury and Jillian King, daughter of Jamie and Julie King of Macon who were selected for the all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. sponsored by Chariton Valley. Megan and Jillian will represent Chariton Valley at our nation’s capital June 2-6 and will be joined by more than 100 other high school juniors from across the United States. They will receive a first-hand glimpse at the legislative and governmental processes and visit some of the nation’s most historic sites, including the Lincoln Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, the Smithsonian Museums and much more.

Chariton Valley selected the winning students through a nomination and interview process.  Each high school nominated one high school junior who would represent their school well at our nations’ capitol.  These students were invited to Chariton Valley on March 7th for individual interviews with a committee of Board Members who selected the recipients for the trip.

“Chariton Valley believes that by educating and supporting our youth today we will inspire and strengthen them to be the leaders of tomorrow,” said CEO, Kirby Underberg. “We are thrilled to make this opportunity available to these deserving students and hope that this will help broaden their horizon and strengthen our communities,” he concluded.

Congratulations Megan and Jillian!!!
