Salisbury High School Students Attend Missouri FCCLA Fall Leadership Conference
Students, advisers, and guests from 120 schools attended the 2025 Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Fall Leadership Conference, November 2-3, 2025, at Union Station in St. Louis. More than 800 delegates from across the state joined the state association to kick off the 2025-2026 school year with Missouri FCCLA. Salisbury members in attendance were Lydea Britt, Brynn Bachtel, Luke Britt, Lane Cruse, Avery Green, Brylee Wallace, and Jameson Schoo. They were accompanied by their advisor Lindsay Ostermann.
The conference centered on the student-developed theme “Now Filming: Your Future” representing the broader theme of the school year – “Lights, Camera, Lead!”. The theme reflects the countless opportunities members of FCCLA have that encourage personal and professional development. The conference kicked off with the Opening General Session on Sunday afternoon where the 2025-2026 Missouri FCCLA State Executive Council introduced the year ahead. Attendees heard from former Kansas City Chiefs cheerleader and motivational speaker Shannon McKain and took away valuable lessons in personal branding and leadership development.
Students also were able to attend workshops on leadership development, community service, career preparation, and healthy living. Exhibits from Missouri colleges, universities, and businesses were also present at the conference to engage with members about various college and career opportunities. Attendees participated in a miracle minute and a costume dance party to raise money for our state outreach project benefitting Care to Learn whose focus is to provide students with emergent health, hunger, and hygiene resources.
FCCLA is unique among student organizations because projects and events--such as the State Leadership Conference--are planned and run by its student members. This prime focus of Missouri FCCLA, youth-centered leadership, helps members develop those "skills for life"—planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision-making, and interpersonal communication—necessary in the workplace and in the home.
