Due to unpredictable weather and flooding Salisbury R-IV will NOT be in session today. We apologize for all the changes. Stay safe.

School will start at 10am with planned normal release at 3:11. The doors will open at 9:30. Buses will be running, but are about 2 hours behind.

1 hour late start. the FEMA shelter is open. students already on the bus are being taken to the FEMA shelter (dome).

Students who live north and drive, do not drive in unsafe conditions. School will be open, but wait until the severe weather and tornado warning expires.

Bus 3 and bus 7, the northern routes, will not be picking up students until the tornado warning is lifted.

Lydea Britt and Brynn Bachtel, juniors at Salisbury High School, participated in the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Legislative Shadowing Project on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Lindsay Ostermann is the local chapter adviser and accompanied the students to the Capital City. Sponsored by the Missouri Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and the Missouri Educators of Family Consumer Sciences (MoEFCS), the program provides an opportunity for junior and senior high school students to spend a day with their state representative, senator or other public official at the State Capitol. The students observe hearings, meetings and other public duties.

The Legislative Shadowing Project, now in its 25th year, includes a reception and opening session for participants on Tuesday, April 21 where Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Chief of Governmental Affairs Perry Gorrell teaches the legislative process and Capitol etiquette to attendees. The shadowing experience allows students to connect their interests in law, public service, civic issues and the political process with their education as well as with the vision and mission of FCCLA. The event is designed to help students develop a better understanding of the political process and its impact on citizens, children and families, and the workforce.

FCCLA attempts to match students with officials from their local school districts wherever possible. The students prepare for the event by becoming familiar with their assigned elected official’s responsibilities and current issues. Lydea was able to shadow Secretary of State Denny Hoskins. Brynn was able to shadow Representative Tim Taylor

FCCLA is a nonprofit Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that works intra-curricularly with Family Consumer Sciences and Human Services Education. Missouri FCCLA has more than 9,700 members in over 330 local chapters, making it the eleventh-largest FCCLA state association in the nation.

Students attended a tour of Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. on Friday, April 24th. Students toured the plant and learned about many careers available within the energy industry.

Second Grade had the opportunity to participate in Regional Missouri Bank's Teach Children to Save Program. A representative from the bank came and read a book and discussed saving money with the students. Students also decorated a piggy bank and two winners from each class were chosen to receive a gift certificate to use towards a savings account. This year's winners were Noah Suttner, Oliver Cheek, Lynelle Britt, and Camden Boss.

SES 3rd graders are taking full advantage of these spring days to take their math skills to a whole new level. They are working on geometry attributes with tetraminoes and then getting to play Tetris to see them in action - building spatial and rotation awareness, using quadrilateral "Whodunnit" to review for the upcoming MAP and a classroom transformation of Pizzeria Fraction review. #ShineSES #PantherPRIDE

Reminder the HS track meet at Marceline today was canceled. We will be attending the Macon Relays on April 28th.

Salisbury High School Scholar Bowl to continue season.

The SHS Scholar Bowl team has played strong this season. The team has competed in conference play
and also at the OMAR national format tournament in Moberly. In conference play the team was 2-4 for
the season against very strong conference opponents. Senior Chance Fischer has captained the team
this season and earned places on the all-conference tournament and all-conference teams. At OMAR,
Chance was 4 th highest scoring individual out of 22 schools.

In the district tournament, in the preliminary rounds the team went 2-1, with a 350-90 win over Pilot
Grove and a 260 to 180 win over Sturgeon. In the third round, the team fell to Westran 330-270. Going
into the afternoon rounds, the team was seeded 1 st . Based on preliminary play, Chance Fischer earned
2 nd place all-district, averaging 53.3 points per game. In the semi-finals, the team faced 4 th seed Sturgeon
and won with a score of 380-150. In the finals, the team played Fayette. After being down by 50 points
at the half, they rallied to win 320-210 and capture the Class 2 District 6 title.

The team advances to quarter-final play on Tuesday, April 28. They will compete against Osceola. The
winning team will advance to the state tournament in May.

The varsity team consists of Zane Duncan, Chance Fischer, Iris Snider, Stephen Thomson, Isabelle
Hartmann, and Ben Meyer.
